RED
Vérité 2016 Vintage
Our favourite Californian wines, Vérité’s 2016 Vintage is a work of art. The Sonoma Valley house adapted its pruning techniques to each micro-cru to combat the effects of several years of drought, producing grapes that would result in elegant, age-worthy wines in the signature styles of the brand’s famed La Muse, La Joie and Le Désir. These are sophisticated, elegant reds that will age beautifully. La Muse hits the palate with full layers of black fruit and toasted cedar along with hints of melted dark chocolate and wild thyme; La Joie is bold and fruity, with dried blackcurrants and warm raspberry compote flavours as well as earthy savoury notes; La Désir offers complex and vibrant fruit layers accompanied by vanilla bean, star anise and fresh clove.

Château Léoville Poyferré, Saint Julien 2003
First founded in 1639, Château Léoville Poyferré is this year celebrating 100 years of ownership by the Cuvelier family. An International house-hold name, the château has evolved from independent wine merchants originally from Lille to an 80-hectare Bordeaux empire – and is still evolving, thanks to recently purchasing a vineyard in Mendoza. This finely balanced grand cru is complex with intense colour, velvety texture and excellent aging potential. We love the 2010 vintage, which combines the classicism of the 2008 vintage and the style of the 2005 with additional power.

Grenache, David & Nadia, Swartland, 2018
Our first pick from fine wine specialists Justerini & Brooks’ carefully curated Easter selection is this stunning and light grenache. The speciality of this beautiful wine comes from its dedicated fabrication process; dry farmed and fermented with 60% whole bunches and just one punch down a day before aging in 500L neutral French oak for a year. It is gentle, sweet and very balanced with hints of red fruits making it an easy sip. >>

A glorious contradiction, this great wine is immensely rich and powerful, yet focuses on the palate with laser precision. With this simmering tension between minerality, peppery spice, and dense ripe fruit, it is the very essence of Grüner Veltliner.

SPARKLING
Philipponnat, Blanc de Noirs, 2009
This pick of champagne might seem surprising from Justerini & Brooks, given its affordability compared to some of the rarer vintages available, but this is an excellent, superior Blanc de Noirs that represents a hugely authentic expression of Pinot Noir, with an explosive complex aromatic presence on the nose and ample reserves of crispy wrought fruit.

Cottonworth Classic Cuvée (England)
This refined, Hampshire non-vinatage was awarded gold medal at the International Wine Challenge, and is a creamy sparkling wine offering a brilliant balance between chalky, fruity/floral and yeasty, bready notes. The mousse is extremely fine and the palate dry, without being austere. With impressive richness on the finish, this is one of England's most complete traditional method wines.
