Perhaps the most overlooked facet of a world-class hotel is the quality of its breakfast - after all, it is the most important meal of the day.

From opulent buffets to bespoke a la carte orders, more and more five-star establishments are starting to put a heavier focus on their breakfasts, and Tempus has compiled a list of those who have managed to achieve a head start in this arena.

‘Breakfast in the Sky’ by Hotel Principe di Savoia, Milan

High up on the penthouse terrace, Hotel Principe di Savoia invites guests to enjoy a private ‘Breakfast in the Sky’ experience. Bringing together exquisite Italian menus, warm service, and a stunning view of Milan’s skyline, it’s a wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion. A personal butler will also be on hand with a choice of three menu options, ‘Blue Sky’, ‘Sunrise’ and ‘Diamond’, all including a bottle of Champagne. Prices start from €340 for two people.

Available now, every day until September 30, 8 – 11.00am. Available for two to four guests (both residents and non-residents). Reservations required by 3pm the previous day.

Cédric Grolet joins breakfast offering at Le Meurice, Paris

Whether enjoyed in an opulent setting inspired by the Salon de la Paix at Versailles, or served in the comfort of the guest’s room, breakfast at Le Meurice offers a parade of sweet and savory delights, enjoyed exactly as it should be – in style.
