New boutique hotel The Londoner to open in the capital this summer

Leicester Square will welcome the world’s first ‘super boutique’ hotel this September, hosting 350 rooms and a wealth of luxurious facilities

The Londoner, the world's first self-described 'super-boutique' hotel, is due to open in Leicester Square in September this year.

The mammoth 350-room establishment boasts 16 storeys, six concept eateries, a unique members club-style private area, a wealth of meeting and event space, cinema and an entire floor dedicated to wellness.

Designed in collaboration with world-renowned architectural designers Yabu Pushelberg, the decor aims to capture the character of London itself with references to British humour sprinkled throughout.

The hotel features a range of rooms including the lavish 200sqm Tower Penthouse duplex suite and the expansive Trafalgar Suites covering 119 square metres and offering impressive living areas, kitchenette, and foyer.

Contemporary and classic art pieces are peppered throughout the guestrooms and public areas of the hotel with the collection curated by a collaboration between Yabu Pushelberg, James Robertson Art Consultants and Edwardian Hotel London’s Krishma Singh Dear.

Round the clock access to The Residence, the hotel’s private members club style space, is on offer for guests with personal spaces for working, relaxing and indulging.

The Londoner also hosts The Residence’s Y Bar and The Drawing Room for intimate dining where the guests can enjoy an à la carte menu and a curated reserve wine list. Through a secret passage is The Whisky Room, 14-cover parlour where guests can indulge in rare, renowned and yet-to-be-discovered whiskies.

The hotel also offers several food and beverage outlets to the public, including The Londoner’s signature Mediterranean restaurant, Whitcomb’s, where diners can experience a petit déjeuner, prix fixe lunch, a pre-theatre and an all-day dining menu featuring small plates and mains evoking the essence of contemporary French cooking, with influences from surrounding Mediterranean cuisines.

In the hotel’s lobby is The Stage which features an all-day programme of food and beverage menus inspired by the sophistication and luxury of Champagne.

Joshua’s Tavern, which specialises in terroir-led gintonicas, is located on the corner of St Martin’s Street and Orange Street and is set to be a hub for creatives in Leicester Square.

The rooftop izakaya lounge, 8 at The Londoner, will sit on top of the hotel where guests can indulge in world-class modern Japanese cuisine.

For fitness fanatics, the hotel’s wellness centre, The Retreat, will be the perfect place to experience holistic style fitness, nutrition and nourishing therapies.

The Retreat offers a private training gym, fitness classrooms, 25m pool, barber, blow dry bar, nail bar and a place to recharge and refresh with food and drink at the Refuel bar.
