Louis Vuitton and Singer unveil custom Porsche 911s

Louis Vuitton has collaborated with Californian atelier Singer on two bespoke Porsche 911s – and they’re fitted with detachable dashboard Tambour-inspired timepieces
Louis Vuitton has taken its ‘art of travel’ philosophy to a whole new level by collaborating with Singer, the Californian atelier renowned for its highly personalized restorations of classic Porsche 911s, to unveil two bespoke customised cars.
The first is a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – Classic, which is finished in saffron and cobalt blue livery and designed with a roof rack that can fit a luggage trunk, surfboard or pair of skis. The other is a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – Classic Turbo, conceived by Louis Vuitton’s artistic director of women’s collections Nicolas Ghesquière and finished in a limestone-and-gold color scheme. Both vehicles are enhanced with made-to-measure Louis Vuitton creations.
At the heart of the project is a detachable, mechanical timepiece, which can be converted into a desk clock, and whose design is inspired by the Louis Vuitton Tambour watch. The maison’s designers reimagined every detail, including the speedometer, rev counter and gauges, to ensure they adopted the graphic codes of the Tambour line for the car, particularly through their hands, terminations on the dials and index systems. 
Speaking about the collaboration, Louis Vuitton watch director Jean Arnault recalled how the project started as a simple request for a dashboard clock for a Singer-reimagined car.
“This unique and remarkable adventure began with a request for a dashboard clock for a car reimagined by Singer. In addition to the design and production of this clock by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton workshops in Switzerland, it quickly became apparent to us that this collaboration with Singer could extend to the personalisation of every functional element of the vehicle, enhancing them through our expertise in leather craftsmanship and watchmaking,” said Jean.
Along with the dashboard clock and watch, the Classic Turbo comes with a made-to-measure silk suit, driving gloves, sneakers, sunglasses, and a helmet and even a a custom Louis Vuitton suitcase fitted specifically to the front trunk. 
“This collaboration brought together two organizations with a shared belief that true luxury is defined by craftsmanship, authenticity and an uncompromising attention to detail. It has been a privilege for everyone at Singer to be trusted with Louis Vuitton’s remarkable 172 years of tradition and savoir-faire and to incorporate those techniques into our own work,” said Mazen Fawaz, Singer’s chief strategy officer.
“Louis Vuitton brought an exceptionally bold and refined design vision focused on expressing the ‘art of travel’. Together, our teams combined that vision with Singer’s approach to engineering, craftsmanship and execution, challenging one another to achieve a level of precision worthy of both organizations.
“I couldn’t be prouder of how our mutual teams embraced that challenge. Along the way, what began as a creative partnership became a genuine friendship, both professionally and personally, built on mutual respect and a shared pursuit of excellence. These two automobiles are the result of that relationship, and neither could have been created without it,” he added.
