When it comes to premium London locations Mayfair is the postcode to beat, and now British Land has announced the completion of new luxury development, Clarges Mayfair, the competition for best dressed residence is certainly heating up. The 34 residences on Piccadilly not only offer views of Green Park and Buckingham Palace, but are uniquely designed to embody Mayfair's history of tailoring, ateliers and craftsmanship in its very design.
The development was created by award-winning Squire & Partners architects with interiors by Martin Kemp Design. The architecture takes its cues from the surrounding landmarks, such as The Ritz Hotel and the Wolseley, by using traditional Portland stone with contemporary detailing, while inside a quadruple height domed ceiling features a light sculpture by Haberdashery commissioned by Martin Kemp.
The first three apartments and wellness facility were unveiled last month, each featuring bespoke interiors that aims to capture timeless, understated luxury. Similar details extend through communal areas, including the wellness centre and grand entrance, with black onyx and Nettuno marbles set off by use of Tanganika timber and dark strained oak in Art Deco styled details.
As well as the range of one to five bedroomed apartments, which start at £4.25m, Martin Kemp Design has also incorporated a number of British artists into the décor, including bespoke tapestries of cast and gilded flowers by Sophie Coryndon, and three copper sculptures by Yasemen Hussein.
Other perks for residents includes the wellness spas and fitness suites, designed to rival five-star hotels. Drawing on the English spa traditions of Harrogate, Bath and Cheltenham, the suites include a 25m swimming pool lined with colonnades and cloisters, and Victorian-era inspired tiling. A gym, private training suite, hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room complete the residents-only facilities.
Known for their landmark developments, Squire & Partners' previous projects include the Chelsea Barracks, One Tower Bridge, Ebury Square, Bulgari Hotel & Residences London, and the Hilton Liverpool. Martin Kemp Design is equally known for its creative partnerships, responsible for the interior design of One Hyde Park, private residences, jets and superyachts.
