Aki London has collaborated with tastemaker Milly Kenny-Ryder to create a Japanese-inspired afternoon tea experience
Aki London is introducing a new afternoon tea created in collaboration with tastemaker Milly Kenny-Ryder. Launched on 4 August, this experience brings a Japanese perspective to the classic British tradition, with a menu developed alongside executive chef Collin Hudson and head pastry chef Cosimo De Fusco, with a focus on seasonal ingredients, balanced flavours and Japanese craftsmanship.Served in Aki London’s Marylebone restaurant, the afternoon tea offers an alternative to the traditional format. Classic scones are replaced with fluffy dorayaki pancakes served with cream and jam, while savoury Japanese sandos feature fillings including chicken katsu with tonkatsu dijon mayo, green tea smoked salmon with yuzu curd, and golden egg yolks with summer truffle.
The pastry selection includes a yuzu & citrus tea cake, pistachio & raspberry tart and a milk chocolate & black sesame mousse, showcasing signature Japanese flavours throughout the menu. Guests will also receive matcha madeleines to take away at the end of the experience.Located within One Cavendish Square, Aki London opened in September 2025 and has established itself as a contemporary Japanese dining destination in the heart of Marylebone. Set inside a Grade II-listed former banking hall redesigned by AD100 interior designer Francis Sultana, the restaurant combines elegant interiors with modern Japanese cuisine.
Speaking about the collaboration, Milly Kenny-Ryder said: “After years of tasting and trialling afternoon teas across the country it was brilliant to work with the Aki team to come up with this new menu. An innovative, unique and delicious take on a favourite British tradition with distinctive and thoughtful Japanese influences.”Executive chef Collin Hudson added: “Japanese cuisine is rooted in seasonality, balance and attention to detail, and we wanted to bring those qualities to the much-loved tradition of afternoon tea. This menu celebrates the beauty of Japanese flavours and craftsmanship while paying homage to the ritual of English afternoon tea.”
