Everything you need to know about BRIT Awards performer Justin Timberlake

Ahead of Justin Timberlake’s performance at this year’s BRIT Awards, we take a look back at the ‘Man of The Woods’ star’s career highlights

* Justin Timberlake is to perform at this years BRIT Awards

The BRIT Awards never fails to deliver a sterling live act line up and this year is no different. Joining the likes of British talent Stormzy, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Liam Payne is 10 time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake – and if his Super Bowl Halftime show set is anything to go by, we’re in for a highly exciting performance. Undoubtedly one of the most successful male artists of our time, Timberlake has enjoyed a long and triumphant international career in the spotlight. Born and raised in Tennessee, as a child he appeared on American talent shows Star Search and The All-New Mickey Mouse Cub, alongside Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, but his break really came as one fifth of boy band *NSYNC.

The band enjoyed chart success with hits such as ‘Bye Bye Bye’ and ‘Girlfriend’ in the early noughties, but split as a part of a temporary hiatus in early 2002. However the band is yet to follow the lead of their contemporaries such as the Backstreet Boys and reform, much to their fans' dismay. Timberlake was arguably the biggest success story of the band, becoming one of the world's best-selling artists, with more than 32 million albums and 56 million singles sold throughout his solo career, earning him a number 19 spot on Forbes' rich list in 2015 and a net worth of $230 million.

* Justin Timberlake has enjoyed a highly lucrative and successful solo career

His first solo release ‘Justified’ in 2002 sent him stratospheric. Featuring hits such as ‘Like I Love You,’ ‘Cry Me a River’ and ‘Rock Your Body,’ the body of work was co-produced by Timbaland, a producer he also worked closely with on second album ‘Futuresex/Lovesounds’, from which his first UK number one ‘SexyBack’ was taken. But it’s not just singing that Timberlake has a raw talent for, he’s also starred in a number of Hollywood blockbusters including ‘The Social Network’, ‘In Time’, ‘Alpha Dog’ and ‘Friends with Benefits’ alongside Mila Kunis. Recently, the star has lent his voice to animated films such as ‘Trolls’ (2016) which featured his own hit ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ and as Artie in ‘Shrek the Third’.

Having previously been connected to a string of high profile stars including Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz and Jenna Dewan-Tatum, the singer-songwriter married actress Jessica Biel in Italy in 2012. The couple has a three-year-old son together, Silas, whose name derives from the Latin for 'of the woods' – a direct inspiration for his fifth and latest studio album, Man of the Woods. The work, featuring his most recent hit ‘Filthy,’ has earned him his fourth no.1 on the Billboard 200 chart. No doubt we’ll see the star perform hits old and new in his BRITs set with some trademark moves thrown in for good measure – we can’t wait to see how he makes the show his own.
