Swiss watchmaker adds heart-shaped minute hand with patented mechanism to the iconic design
Iconic Swiss watchmaker Breguet has announced that it has given a Valentine's Day-themed upgrade to its historic Reine de Naples model.
The new edition of the watch, dubbed the Cœur, has been adorned with a hand in the shape of a changing heart and embellished with 18-carat rose gold and diamonds.
The brand, which notes that its newest creation is "dedicated to women and to love", states that a new mechanism changes the heart shape of the minute hand depending on its position on the oval dial – an innovation protected by multiple patents.
The design, which has been restricted to 28 numbered pieces, is presented in an envelope clutch bag finished in grained calfskin leather and dyed vermilion red to match the strap of the Reine de Naples Cœur.
The Caliber 78A0 movement, meanwhile, is visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback as it beats at a frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour), and on the gold rim is engraved the individual number of the watch, recorded in the archives of the House of Breguet.
The Breguet Reine de Naples Cœur is currently on sale for £40,100 at Breguet Boutique, 10 New Bond Street, London, W1S 3SP.
