The watch is the latest addition to the Fifty Fathoms collection
In the latest news from the world of horology, luxury watch manufacturer Blancpain has unveiled The Bathyscaphe Quantième Annuel, a hotly anticipated new addition to the covetable Fifty Fathoms diving collection. For the first time ever, the timepiece comes fit with an unconventional yet innovative addition, the new annual calendar complication – marking a truly unique crossover.
In 1953, Blancpain’s famed Fifty Fathoms pioneered as the world’s first modern diving watch, catering to the needs of professional divers in deep, underwater conditions, and has remained the blueprint for the dive watch genre ever since. The Bathyscaphe first joined the Fifty Fathoms family in 1956, as a civilian piece whose size would be adapted to daily wear. Similarly, today’s contemporary Bathyscaphe model offers an equally accessible yet stylish design, robust movement, and unidirectional rotating bezel with a ceramic insert.

This year’s Bathyscaphe Quantième Annuel, which made its debut at this year’s Baselworld, presents a new calibre of functionality to the sport collection, featuring the day of the week, date, and month shown in windows – making it suitable for everyday wear too. Powering the Bathyscaphe Quantième Annuel is an impressive new calibre, the 6054.P, inspired by Blancpain’s in-house twin-barrel 1150 movement, which has been modified with extended bridges to create a wider opening on the calibre. The calibre is visible through a sapphire crystal case-back – a style seen frequently at this year's Baselworld – showcasing solid gold oscillating weight coated in NAC (a platinum alloy) and sculpted to form the trademark Blancpain logo.
Its markings dramatically highlight Blancpain’s ‘meteor grey’ dial and the black ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel, while the 43mm satin-finished steel case can be fitted with a sail-canvas or NATO strap, as well as a metal bracelet – catering to every kind of aesthetic.
