Benedict Cumberbatch joins Jaeger-LeCoutre Polaris Gala at SIHH
The Dr Strange star examined the watch brand's latest Polaris edition before celebrating with the stars
Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is in full swing and luxury swiss watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre grasped the opportunity to launch its new elegant sport collection for men: Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris. Hosting an exceptional gala evening, British actor and brand ambassador Benedict Cumberbatch, who undoubtedly embodies the core brand values of elegance and luxury, joined the Maison in celebrating the occasion. Deputy CEO Geoffroy Lefebvre welcomed famous friends of Jaeger-LeCoultre from across the globe including: Boran Jing, Diego Luna, Joseph Chang, Sunny Wang, Jorge Viladoms, Rebecca Ferguson, Ellie Bamber, Milos Bikovic, Bruno Van Enck and Sophie Hunter.
The guests enjoyed decadent cocktails curated by Colin Field of Hemingway Bar, Ritz Hotel Paris and culinary delights by Mathieu Pacaud, the youngest French three-star Michelin chef. A stage performance of Breakbot by talented musicians and singers was on offer in the way of entertainment, followed by a DJ set to get all attendees on their feet. The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris line is inspired by the iconic Memovox Polaris from 1968, which marks its 50th anniversary this year. This collection takes the spirit of the Memovox Polaris and applies it to today’s gentleman with a full range of timepieces, from a three-hand automatic to a chronograph world time, all with a Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox piece displaying the famous alarm function. >>
Speaking of his appointment as Jaeger-LeCoultre band ambassador, Cumberbatch said: “Being a great watchmaking enthusiast I am delighted to be associated with such an outstanding watch manufacture as Jaeger‑LeCoultre and to be visiting the Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux in January.” His character wears a Jaeger‑LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual engraved watch, (whose romantic engraving forms part of the plotline), in Marvel movie Dr Strange.
Academy Nominee Benedict Cumberbatch is best known for starring in television hit Sherlock, a role that earned him international acclaim and several awards including an Emmy for best actor. Benedict received BAFTA, Golden Globe and Academy Award Best Actor nominations for his portrayal of Alan Turing in the multi-award winning film The Imitation Game and a BAFTA nomination for his role as Richard III in the BBC Drama The Hollow Crown. More recently he portrayed the title role of Stephen Strange in Dr Strange, Stephen in the BBC drama adaptation of the The Child In Time and Patrick Melrose in Melrose which is due for release later this year.
