As luxury hotel group looks to expand its Residences portfolio, here are four of the most exciting projects in the pipeline
Iconic luxury hotel chain Mandarin Oriental is launching itself back into the public consciousness following the Covid-19 pandemic by expanding and improving its luxury living spaces, dubbed The Residences.
Currently there are seven residences operational, in locations from Bangkok to Boston to Bodrum, and 16 under development scheduled to open over the next five years. These high-end properties boast a range of stunning facilities, with 25 Michelin stars and more Forbes ‘Five Star Spa’ awards than any other hotel group in the world between them.
Here, we take a look four of the brand's most exciting upcoming projects.
The Residences Tel Aviv: Israel property market booms following confidence due to vaccination rates
Israel’s property market continues to thrive despite the pandemic, largely due to the country’s successful roll out of the vaccination and their position as the global leader in immunising its population against coronavirus. To that end, The Residences at Mandarin Oriental Tel Aviv are due to open in 2023 and will play host to the city’s first luxury hospitality branded residences.
Located on the so-called Golden Kilometre and featuring stunning views over the Mediterranean, The Residences are sure to pique the interest of every property investor. Israel’s leading developer Hertzel Habas and Orit Freedman Weissman have partnered with Mandarin Oriental on the project, which will be designed by Israel’s Moshe Tzur Architects, with interiors by Milan-based Michael Vincent Uy.
The complex will feature 230 luxurious apartments as well as a professional boxing ring, 1,750sqm private garden for open air yoga classes and an Oxygen Garden fitness suite, which will provide a unique workout atmosphere.
The Residences Mayfair: second London property set to open in early 2022
Following the success of One Hyde Park, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s first London residences project, the hotel group’s next venture in the capital is The Residences at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, set for completion in early 2022.
This sizeable building will host 80 brand new residences on Hanover Square, designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen and featuring a handful of extraordinary four-bedroom penthouses. Elsewhere, residents will be able to take advantage of amenities including a 25-metre swimming pool, roof terrace bar and restaurant, all within a short stroll from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street.
The Residences Honolulu: 99 suites to open atop the Hawaii skyline
Set to open in 2023/24, this 37-story, 418-foot tower in downtown Honolulu will, according to Mandarin Oriental, serve as a "vertical interpretation of the traditional Hawaiian lanai" – a shaded porch or verandah.
The Residences Honolulu will host 99 dwellings just steps away from Waikiki Beach and will include amenities such as a 20,000 sq ft spa and fitness centre – the largest in Oahu – as well as a Peloton Room and cinema, while keen singers will no doubt enjoy the on-site karaoke room. Each apartment will be bathed in light due to majestic floor-to-ceiling glass windows, offering uninterrupted views of the beach, sea and sunsets beyond.
The Residences Da Nang: explore one of the New Wonders of the World
Earlier this year, Mandarin Oriental announced that it will manage a new luxury resort with branded residences in Da Nang, one of Vietnam’s most popular leisure destinations. The project is scheduled to open in 2024 and will sit on a spectacular 30km stretch of beach which links Da Nang in the north with Hoi An in the south.
As well as being well located for guests to explore the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Site attractions such as Hoi An, My Son and the royal city of Huế, Da Nang’s Golden Bridge has just been named one of the New Wonders of the World. The bridge, which opened in 2018, is designed as though a giant's hands (made of fibreglass and mesh wire) are gently supporting the 490ft path for pedestrians, which overlooks the coastal resort.
