For me, adventure and authenticity go hand in hand, and Wildmoor embodies both. This partnership wasn’t just about putting a name to a brand, it was about aligning with something that represents the same spirit of resilience, craftsmanship, and exploration that drives me. Wildmoor’s whisky is crafted with a dedication to the land and the people who make it, and that resonated with my own journey—pushing limits in extreme environments while staying deeply connected to the essence of the wild.

Your curated adventure experience, The Wildmoor Experience at Wilderness Reserve, was recently announced by the brand. Can you tell us what we can expect from it?
The Wildmoor Experience at Wilderness Reserve is designed to help guests reconnect with nature and embrace adventure, all while enjoying outdoor activities and relaxing in a setting that fosters tranquility, camaraderie, and a deep respect for the natural world. Experiencing the wild in its purest form, learning new skills and gaining a sense of accomplishment along the way. Activities like wild swimming, axe throwing, and archery offer the perfect blend of excitement and relaxation. And of course, there’s no better way to end a day of adventure than by sitting around a fire, sharing stories, and raising a glass of Wildmoor 23 Year Old Dark Moorland to celebrate the journey.

How did you marry the spirit of Wildmoor whisky with this adventure experience? What makes this adventure so quintessentially Wildmoor?
Wildmoor is all about reconnecting with nature. I wanted this adventure to reflect that: something rich in experience, demanding in effort, but ultimately rewarding. The adventure mirrors the whisky, bold, crafted by the elements, and full of character. You don’t just drink Wildmoor; you experience it. And that’s exactly what this journey is about, immersing yourself fully in the wild, embracing the elements, and coming away with a deeper appreciation for what it means to truly explore.

It started in the Marines, but I think it was in me long before that. Growing up, I was always drawn to the edges of maps, to places that felt untamed and unknown. The military gave me the skills, but the drive to push into the unknown, this is something I’ve carried with me my whole life.

What makes a great adventure?
A great adventure is all about how far you’re willing to push yourself. The feeling of discomfort, uncertainty, but ultimately, reward at the end of it. The best adventures remind you that you’re capable of more than you think and that life happens outside the easy, comfortable spaces. If you can come back from an adventure with a new perspective, a deeper sense of who you are, and a few scars worth telling stories about—that’s a great adventure.

What are your top tips for someone wanting to go on an expedition? What are the do’s, don’ts, and must-haves?
Do prepare for the unexpected—because the wild doesn’t care about your plans. Train hard, build resilience, and understand that your mindset is your most important tool. Don’t rely on technology to save you. Learn traditional navigation, survival skills, and how to read the environment. Your best gear is the knowledge in your head. Must-haves: a solid knife, a reliable fire starter, and a mindset that refuses to quit. The gear is secondary—the right mentality is what will get you through when things go sideways. Wildmoor Aldo KaneWhat are some of the most unique destinations you have explored in your travels that you’d encourage others to visit?
I’ve been fortunate to travel to some of the most extreme and awe-inspiring places on Earth, and these four stand out:

  • Greenland – One of the last true frontiers. Towering icebergs, remote fjords, and a harsh yet stunning landscape that forces you to respect nature in its rawest form. The silence out there is something you don’t experience anywhere else.
  • The Amazon – A place that is alive in every sense. The jungle is relentless, unpredictable, and humbling. You’re never at the top of the food chain here, which makes it one of the most exciting and challenging places to explore.
  • Democratic Republic of Congo – There’s a rawness to the DRC that makes it one of the most exhilarating places I’ve ever been. From dense jungles to active volcanoes, it’s a land of extremes. Trekking to see mountain gorillas in Virunga National Park is something that stays with you forever.
  • Nepal – The Himalayas are the ultimate testing ground for resilience and endurance. Whether it’s Everest, the Annapurna Circuit, or deep expeditions into remote valleys, Nepal teaches you the power of both nature and human perseverance.
