Gordon Ramsay launches new restaurant at The Savoy

1890 by Gordon Ramsay, situated in the heart of London, pays homage to the iconic works of Georges Auguste Escoffier, who joined The Savoy as a chef in 1890

World-famous chef Gordon Ramsay has unveiled his newest project, Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay, which opened today at The Savoy in central London.

With views over The Savoy stunning entrance and seating just 26 guests, this luxurious, highly exclusive restaurant is set to offer one of the capital's most saught-after dining experiences, with a world-class dinner-only tasting menu featuring seasonal modern French with European influences.

Executive Head Chef James Sharp and his team will prepare the dishes, which Ramsay has said are an homage to iconic French chef Georges Auguste Escoffier, who joined The Savoy in 1890. “Nearly every top chef around the world today has been influenced at some time in their career by Escoffier’s legacy, however diverse their cuisine, and 1890 by Gordon Ramsay will offer a very fresh and contemporary experience," he said.

The nine-course launch menu features a number of dishes originally created by Escoffier, including his Native Lobster Vol-au-Vent Fine Herbs, with Sauce Americane, and his Turbot Veronique, Champagne and Caviar Beurre Blanc.

Meanwhile, the Aberdeen Angus Shortrib, Artichoke, Alliums with Sauce Bordelaise uses Escoffier’s Bordelaise sauce, which is the classic, bone marrow-enriched accompaniment to grilled red meat.

“The finest ingredients are sourced from all corners of the world, and the tasting menu may change from day to day to ensure the best produce we can find is always featured,” says James Sharp.

The exclusive tasting menu is priced at £110 per person, with two levels of wine pairings available at £90 or £210.

Restaurant 1890 is open Wednesday to Saturday with two dinner sittings, at 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm.
