As Endermologie comes to Harrods, we look at the ‘triple-action’ treatment redefining beauty

LPG’s natural, non-invasive and non-aggressive anti-ageing and beauty contouring treatment is now available
Arriving at Harrod's Wellness Clinic is always a treat. The sleek, spa-like waiting room within London's most prestigious department store is a marble-floored, plushly decorated atrium into some of the most innovative holistic beauty treatments on the UK market, and now LPG endermologie has joined the bunch with its tenth-generation CELLU M6 Alliance range.
Offering a triple-action treatment that aims to make skin healthier from within – reactivating collagen and elastin production, restarting lipolysis and accelerating lymphatic flows – endermologie says it is the only natural, non-invasive and non-aggressive anti-ageing and beauty contouring technique. Famous fans that swear by the treatment include Cristiano Ronaldo and models such as Claudia Schiffer and 'the Body' Elle McPhearson – so naturally Tempus had to put it to the test.
Once clad in a protective body stocking, an endermologie specialist massages key areas of your body or face with the machine's ergodrive head, various motorised rolls providing a deep tissue massage in various pulses and rhythms. It feels strange at first, like pins and needles or a slight tickling sensation. Results can vary, of course, and are visible after three of the prescribed six to eight 40-minute sessions.
"Under the surface, endermologie reactivates the endogenous synthesis of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, stimulates natural lipolysis, drains fluids and accelerates vascularisation. The aesthetic impacts of the treatment is an improvement in skin fitness from within – smoothing the texture and boosting the skin’s natural glow," LPG endermologie president, Nathalie Guitay told Tempus.
"It works best in conjunction with maintaining a healthy lifestyle – eating well, regular exercise to ensure your body is staying as healthy as possible – like anything, you can’t just rely on one method to slim etc, you need a combination of things! The skin cells targeted during the treatment also continue to be stimulated afterwards through exercise," she says. "Six sessions are regarded as a full course of treatment, however there is no recommended limit on how many treatments can be had – some individuals, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, have machines in their house to enjoy a session every day." >>

Original created in 1986 for medical treatments, endermologie has become an advocate for 'natural beauty', hoping to educate men and women away from artificial beauty treatments and instead opt for a combination of treatment and lifestyle.
"The treatment was originally designed for medical use – Louis-Paul Guitay invented the treatment after being involved in a car crash, noticing there wasn’t an effective competitor on the market that would improve physiotherapy," says Guitay. "Fourteen years later, the aesthetic market began to covet the technology as it received more and more praise for its effects on the figure and real success came when the motorising head was adapted for this audience, attracting a far larger, unexpected fanbase."
Found in hotels, spas and wellness centres all around the world, Guitay says endermologie is a brand that works hard to fit in with the busy lifestyles of its jet-setting clientele. "The new technology enables clients to continue their treatment around the globe – storing your information and the personalised treatment sessions that have been had, allowing individuals to adapt or continue with the same treatment whether that’s at Harrods Wellness Clinic or a spa in Beijing."
