What makes the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe such a luxurious day?

Discover all the glamour of the Paris horse racing event

Horse racing fans travel all around the world to the leading meetings as not only do they love the sport they follow, it is also a great social occasion for many of them.

If it’s a luxurious trip to horse racing that you are looking for, the Prix de l’Arc Triomphe in Paris should be right at the top of your list. Here is a look at what makes the meeting at ParisLongchamp in October so special.

Revamped Racecourse in The Bois de Boulogne

Horse racing has taken place at ParisLongchamp since 1857 and it has generally been considered as the leading course in France ever since.

In 2018 the French racecourse reopened after a $185 million makeover. This included a new grandstand which replaced the 1960s structure. The design of the revamp was led by Dominique Perrault who is responsible for the Francois Mitterrand National Library.

The home of the Arc has the capacity to hold 70,000 spectators. It has become one of the most impressive racecourses anywhere in the world.

Best Flat Horses in the World

The Arc is a special horse race which attracts the best horses from the UK, Ireland, France and Japan. This is often the first time many of them have faced each other in their careers, and today’s horse racing results from Paddy Power can give you a good idea who the contenders will be this year. Those who are victorious in the Grade One middle distance races on there have a great chance of lining up in October.

Enable, who is considered to be the queen of horse racing, is bidding to win the contest for the third time in her career after coming out on top in 2017 and 2018.

Luxurious Hospitality Packages

As part of its renovation programme pre-2018, ParisLongchamp wanted to offer one of the best hospitality racecourse experiences in world racing. There is a range of packages which can be booked on their biggest day of the year including a lounge, restaurant and private box.

The food at the racecourse has consistently been given excellent reviews since reopening so your dining experience will be like going to one of the best restaurants in Paris.

All the hospitality packages include access to private areas of the racecourse, including a garden for you to relax in throughout the afternoon, away from the large crowd.

Fashion

Given the glamour of Paris, it is no surprise that many racegoers choose to wear their smartest attire on Arc day.

There are a number of prizes you can win for being one of the best dressed at the racecourse. If you are enjoying some hospitality at the course, there is likely to be a dress code so do check what is required from you.

The 2020 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe takes place on October 5. The meeting will include six other Group One races in what is set to be one of the best day’s racing of the year in the sport.
