The Pot Luck Club will be bringing its South African flavours to the heart of London at The Waldorf Hotel this August
London is gaining a new pop up this year in the form of The Pot Luck Club. The restaurant – regarded as one of the hottest eateries in South Africa – will take part in a three-month residency from 13 August at The Waldorf Hotel.
Created by British-born chef Luke Dale Roberts, the Pot Luck Club has an international following and is famed for its flavour led menu, which celebrates British produce and seasonal ingredients. Sous chef Rachel Maroun will lead the team during the restaurant’s residency in London.
The menu offers a globally inspired cuisine, with dishes including smoked beef fillet with truffle café au lait sauce; springbok tataki with mandarin gastrique; and Cape Malay-spiced vegetarian dishes. This combination of culture and flavour is what has made dining at the Pot Luck Club such a hit in Cape Town.

“As a Brit, there’s something meaningful about returning in this way, partnering with one of London’s landmark hotels and sharing what we’ve built in Cape Town with a new audience,” said Luke. “We’ve been fortunate to grow an international following at home, and this feels like the natural next step.”
The setting for the Pot Luck Club couldn’t be at a better location. Built in 1908 by William Waldorf Astor, the Waldorf Hotel was one of the first establishments to offer not just rooms, but a full social experience, from afternoon teas to elegant dinners. More than a century later, it remains at the centre of London’s cultural life.

The Waldorf’s dining room will be reimagined to reflect the restaurant’s Cape Town roots while still highlighting the hotel’s character.
There will also be an accompanying cocktail programme, led by the Waldorf’s head bartender Abby Long. It will feature seasonal ingredients and flavours that echo the restaurant’s tone alongside a bar snack menu curated by Luke.
Speaking about the collaboration, Guy Hilton, the Waldorf’s area general manager, said that the partnership is a ‘perfect match’, adding: “We eagerly look forward to welcoming Luke and his talented team to join forces with our Food & Drink heroes, as we present an innovative menu that promises to delight our guests.”
