Tempus Hot List London November Experience the Chiltern Street Christmas shopping event in Portman Marylebone

This Christmas, Chiltern Street, one of London’s most characterful shopping destinations, will come alive for a special one day only Christmas celebration on Saturday 29 November, from 12 to 6pm. The street’s collection of independent boutiques, specialist stores, and cafés will open their doors, inviting visitors to explore a programme of in-store drinks, exclusive offers, and creative workshops to kick start the festive period. Set against the backdrop of the distinctive red brick architecture of Marylebone, the street will be soundtracked by live music from a roaming choir and brass band, as visitors browse the stores to shop menswear, womenswear, jewellery, lifestyle goods and more. This is definitely a must-visit experience for anyone looking to do some last minute festive shopping in a truly vibrant atmosphere.

At the Michelin-starred Osip, chef Merlin Labron-Johnson has collaborated with art and craft curator Jacqueline Moore, on ‘A Gathering’, which will see a collection of works by artists displayed throughout the restaurant until March 2026. The exhibition will be the first in a series of collaborations between Merlin and Jacqueline, and will turn Osip into a gallery space, spotlighting craft makers, including ceramicists, photographers and wood and textile artists, where each carefully chosen piece will be made by hand. All the artwork will be available to purchase, so if you’re an art aficionado with a penchant for Michelin-starred food, head over to Osip for a night to remember.

This winter, Vintry & Mercer’s Mercer roof terrace is transforming into a dazzling winter wonderland with the return of its igloo and intimate cabins. Perched high above the city on the hotel’s seventh floor, guests can take in sweeping views across St. Paul’s and The Shard. Perfect for those wanting to dine al fresco, the cabins provide a cosy retreat for three to four guests, while the igloo welcomes groups of five to seven, creating the ideal setting for festive celebrations, Christmas catch-ups or romantic winter evenings. To complete the après-ski ambience, guests can sink into plush faux fur blankets surrounded by flickering candles and the soft twinkle of fairy lights.

Every year, all around London, one of the most exciting things to happen in the festive calendar is the switching on of the festive lights. But an added layer of excitement comes when luxury hotels across the city reveal their Christmas trees for the season. Claridge’s designer trees are always a standout – the 2024 iteration was created by legendary British designer Sir Paul Smith – with the 2025 designer set to be announced imminently. Another highlight is the Christmas tree at 45 Park Lane, which is usually designed by an artist. This year it is British sculptor Ian Turnock, whose work draws inspiration from the intrinsic structures found in nature. The tree itself has been designed to capture the stillness of winter, enhanced by sculptural decorations casting shimmering patterns of light and shadow, and will be unveiled on 19 November.

For many Americans around the world, Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season. Celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November – this year on 27 November – this is an opportunity for family and friends to gather together and give thanks for the blessings of the past year and the powers that helped them achieve it. The main event at any Thanksgiving celebration is, of course, the big Thanksgiving feast. And in London, there are many restaurants that are catering to this tradition – including The Pem, which is hosting a special Thanksgiving dinner for one night only. Expect festive favourites like maple roasted Cumbrian turkey, buttermilk and jalapeno cornbread and pumpkin pie ice cream, all with a British twist. And while you gear up to feast on this, keep an eye out for our roundup of the best restaurants in London that are celebrating Thanksgiving, coming soon.
