To coincide with the upcoming release of Gladiator 2, Ridley Scott has released a limited edition collection of wines from his award-winning family wine estate in Luberon in the South of France, which are available to buy exclusively at Selfridges now. The Imperatores Collection comprises Caracalla, a red wine, Geta, a white wine, and for 100 lucky UK buyers, a premium magnum of red is available that has been signed by the director himself and comes complete with a prop coin from the film. To celebrate Krug’s philosophy of ‘one plot, one wine, one ingredient’ every year the house honours a single ingredient to showcase the flavours it can reveal when paired with a glass of Krug. Flower is this year’s chosen ingredient and from 8 November Krug will host a series of bookable ‘Krug x Flower’ Four Hands dinners with chefs, Shay Cooper at The Lanesborough (8 Nov) and Simon Attridge at Claridges (2 Dec), and Adam Handling at Frog by Adam Handling (3 Dec) which honour the elegance and diversity of this ingredient paired with this year’s new releases: Krug Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition and Krug Rosé 28ème Édition.

Until the end of November, to celebrate its bicentennial anniversary, The Macallan has partnered with ABar Lounge at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair which will serve up three special edition cocktails as well as drams of its new release, TIME : SPACE Mastery. Its interpretation of an Old Fashioned, ‘Maghellan Old Fashioned’ comprises TIME : SPACE Mastery as the base of the cocktail, mixed with roasted coffee and Mirabelle plum flavours. ‘Evolutionary Highball’ is a tropical and floral concoction made with The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old, lychee and Jasmine Oolong soda. The third cocktail, Heritage, is a take on the Manhattan that sees flavours of Japan – yuzu and cherry – combined with The Macallan Sherry Oak 18 Years Old.

One of the most exciting Christmas moments on the London calendar is undoubtedly the reveal of the Claridge’s Christmas tree, and its designer for that year. For 2024, the hotel has turned to legendary British menswear designer Sir Paul Smith. The traditional 19ft Christmas tree, which will be unveiled on 20 November, will be decorated with 100 bespoke birdhouses, featuring roofs decorated in playing cards, postage stamps and dice. He has partnered with British architect Nik Ramage who will create a series of mechanical birdhouses and design studio Studiomama who will produce their whimsical ‘Off Cut Creatures’ to sit at the base of the tree.

The Ham Yard’s roof terrace, which is usually reserved only for hotel guests, has once again opened its doors for the winter season with its new ‘Winter Gin Garden: Sipping History’ pop up in collaboration with Sipsmith. The pop up – which features blankets, hot water bottles, and fire heaters to keep warm – is decorated with cosy candles and books and unveils a menu of specially created serves which will allow guests to sample twists on four hundred years of cocktails. Tickets include a welcome Milk Punch – a clarified blend of Sipsmith London Dry Gin, Ruby Port, lemon and Ham Yard’s bespoke tea – along with another drink of choice, such as the Hot Chocolata, Hot Toddy or Sloe Lady.
