Sip Portuguese blends at new City wine bar, Bar 1790
Renowned Port house Sandeman – founded by Scotsman George Sandeman – has returned to its home in the City, on St Swithins Lane, where it had been since 1805, with the opening of new wine bar, Bar 1790, named in honour of the year the company was founded. In a nod to the company's heritage, the wine list, curated by head sommelier, Max Cohn, in partnership with David Gleave MW (Chairman and founder of Liberty Wines) is entirely Portuguese – with the exception of one Champagne and one English Sparkling Wine, and the food menu, created by head chef, Toby Lever, is strongly influenced by traditional Portuguese cuisine. The Sandeman Quarter also plans to re-open next door restaurant, Don, and introduce a programme of wine courses, tastings, dinners, and seminars alongside a private member’s club.

Celebrate St Patrick’s Day in style with strings and Champagne at 116 Pall Mall
It wouldn't be a March hot list without referencing St Patrick's Day, but instead of painting the town green and toasting Guinness after Guinness, Searcy's have something a little different in stall this year at 116 Pall Mall. In celebration of the Emerald Isle and its incredible exports, 116 Pall Mall this year honours Paddy's Day with a world-class concert, in partnership with the London Chamber Orchestra, paired with a three course Irish feast. Taking to the stage, Irish singer and violinist Úna Palliser, will perform everything from classic Irish jigs to stunning ballads. And since it is Searcy's after all, it would only be fitting to see in the evening with a crisp glass of Champagne.
Starting from 6pm, with the bar opening from 5pm, tickets are priced at £40 per person, or upgrade with a three-course meal at £75 per person.
