Raise a glass of Hennessy Paradis for Chinese New Year

New Year celebrations are not quite over – with Chinese New Year approaching on 22 January, and to usher in the Year of the Rabbit, Maison Hennessy has created a limited edition one-litre Hennessy Paradis carafe to celebrate the occasion.

Hand decorated, the carafe’s artwork has been taken from Yan Pei-Ming’s La Grande Course, a monumental 6 x 3.5m painting commissioned by Hennessy, showing the rabbit within the extended family of the Chinese zodiac. Just 888 carafes have been produced, costing £8,000, and are numbered individually, presented in a beautifully crafted wooden box.

The carafe will be available to purchase from January 9 online here or at the Hennessy Rare Editions Boutique in Harrods

Sample Crystal Sushi at Shiro

After the indulgence of the festive season, if you're looking for something a little lighter, head to London's latest contemporary Japanese restaurant, Shiro. Tokyo is having something of a moment this year, with a number of new openings including Bulgari Hotel Tokyo and Aman's Janu set for 2023 and, inspired by the buzzing dining culture of Tokyo's Ginza, Shiro brings a taste of the city to London.

The opening is the first new venture from from Aqua Restaurant Group (Shard, Kyoto and Hutong) in a decade and, under chef Ken Miyake, guests can experience authentic Tokyo cuisine such as Crystal Sushi – featuring layers of elegantly infused jelly, delicately laid on top of each sushi piece – Edomae Sushi, and Ramen.
