Louis Vuitton to design Claridge’s 2023 Christmas tree

Fashion brand Louis Vuitton is decking the halls of Claridge’s Hotel London this festive season

Claridge's x Louis Vuitton Christmas

Every year, London gears up for the festive season with lights, decor and trees all over the city. Among the most highly anticipated is Claridge’s. Each festive season, the five-star London Hotel invites once of the most exciting names in luxury fashion to deck its halls with a spectacular Christmas Tree vision – and this year fashion house Louis Vuitton will take on the challenge.

The Christmas tree, which will be unveiled in the hotel lobby on the morning of Thursday 23 November, will celebrate the maison’s ethos of the ‘art of travel’ through its luxury collections and will serve to bring together two illustrious names in the luxury business.

Speaking about the collaboration, Claridge’s’ general manager Paul Jackson expressed his enthusiasm at working with the iconic fashion house this year. “What an honour it is to welcome such a legendary house as Louis Vuitton to design our Claridge’s Christmas tree this year,” he said. “Christmas is the most magical time of year for us here at the hotel and we look forward to seeing guests and visitors immerse themselves in Louis Vuitton’s world.”

This collaboration is very significant, as Claridge’s and Louis Vuitton have a rich history together; both were founded in 1854. In the 1850s, maison founder Louis Vuitton was appointed as the personal layetier to Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III.

During the same period The Empress made Claridge’s her winter residence, and famously received visits from Queen Victoria.

Louis Vuitton’s first London store opened in 1885 around the corner from Claridge’s. Ever since, its famous trunk — the quintessence of Louis Vuitton’s unique savoir-faire — has become a mainstay travel accessory amongst the hotel’s guests.

Over the last 12 years, a roster of some of the most high profile luxury fashion houses have been asked to lend their creative direction and design one of the most gorgeous Christmas trees London has to offer. The 2022 Christmas tree was designed by Sandra Choi for Jimmy Choo, while the year before was Kim Jones for Dior.

Other designers and fashion houses that have designed the tree over the years include Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Karl Lagerfeld, Dolce & Gabbana, and more.

Claridge’s is located at Brook Street in Mayfair, London and the tree will be open for public viewing throughout the festive season.
