Interview: London Concours director Andrew Evans takes us inside the motoring extravaganza

Tempus meets with London Concours director Andrew Evans for an inside look at the celebrated motoring event

London ConcoursThe London Concours has returned for its 2025 edition, and it promises to be a great one. Bringing together over 100 of the most rare and alluring hypercars, supercars and classic cars to the Honourable Artillery Company, the London Concours is the ultimate automotive garden party. Celebrating its ninth edition this year, the roster of cars featured include the UK’s only Maserati MCXtrema, the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder to name a few.

Each day of the show will also encompass a unique and focused theme, bringing together a display of outstanding cars that fit the bill of each theme. Day one will celebrate ‘A Very British Icon – Aston Martin; day two is ‘The Greatest Marque – Mercedes-Benz’; and the final day will be an unbridled celebration of performance with ‘The Need for Speed – Supercar Day’

Here, we speak to London Concours director Andrew Evans to learn more about what guests can expect from the motoring extravaganza this year, what the selection process is like and more. The London Concours is returning for yet another incredible year — and it is slated to be the biggest one yet. What can guests expect from this year’s extravaganza?

Across three carefully curated days, visitors will enjoy a packed agenda featuring 90 privately owned automobiles competing in the main concours — thoughtfully arranged across eight themed classes. Adding further dimensions are 40 additional cars on display each day, forming part of a rotating spotlight that celebrates Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz and the supercar in turn. Surrounding these automotive jewels are our distinguished commercial partners from the worlds of luxury motoring, comprising some of the world’s leading specialist dealers, and contemporary design — with appearances from the likes of Luca Faloni, Canali, and Jo Loves. The stage is exquisitely set.

What makes the London Concours different from other concours events around the world?
I believe there are two key elements that make the London Concours uniquely special. First, its setting: the Honourable Artillery Company gardens offer a lush, unexpected oasis in the heart of the City of London — a hidden gem within the Square Mile that never fails to surprise first-time visitors. Second is our approach to curation. Each edition is conceived like a compelling novel or a must-read magazine — a narrative-led experience where each class, each vehicle, is selected with editorial care. The result is an immersive, storytelling-led showcase that engages the senses and the imagination.Which cars are you most looking forward to seeing at the event?

It’s difficult to choose, and to be frank, I very much feel like a kid in a sweetshop who is spoilt for choice. That said, the Hypercars class is irresistible this year, gathering 14 of the world’s most advanced and desirable performance machines into one astonishing display. Stepping back into my own childhood, and also for those who came of age with car posters on their bedroom walls, the Dream Car class offers a nostalgic thrill. Just imagine your first few steps on the lawns of the Honourable Artillery Company taking you past a Jaguar XJ220, a Lamborghini Countach and a McLaren F1 – and that’s just scratching the surface! It’s a walk through the fantasy garages of our youth.

What is the selection process like for the automobiles on display at the Concours? How do you select or source the cars that will be displayed?
We work with a committee of automotive specialists who gently navigate the car collecting and owner community to tease out these truly special cars. Planning begins as early as September, with a focus on defining the year’s themes. From there the hard work starts, it’s a meticulous process of sourcing cars, having constructive conversations with owners, and careful persuasion. Every vehicle chosen earns its place on the lawn — each with a story to tell and a part to play in the broader narrative.London concoursEach day at the concours will feature a theme. Can you speak a little bit about them? Will Aston Martin be a big Bond display?

Variety is key to the London Concours experience, and our rotating daily features ensure each visit offers something new. This year opens with a celebration of Aston Martin — a marque steeped in British heritage and naturally associated with a certain secret agent. It’s impossible to think of Aston Martin without James Bond, but the cars on display will tell the broader story of the Newport Pagnell and Gaydon-era of cars. Day two shifts the spotlight to Mercedes-Benz and its lineage of engineering mastery, while day three ignites the senses with a breathtaking supercar display, from modern marvels to future icons.

What are you hoping guests will take away from the event?
Above all, a feeling of surprise and delight. The London Concours is intentionally intimate — it allows visitors to get remarkably close to the cars, and indeed to the owners who so generously share them. It’s this proximity and atmosphere that surprises newcomers year after year. Each year we amaze newcomers with an experience which is hard to replicate and I’m sure the ninth edition of London Concours will be no different.
