Courmayeur Mont Blanc hosts the return of the Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience

Want Michelin star food on the side of a mountain? If it sounds too good to be true, prepare to be pleasantly surprised…

Courmayeur Mont Blanc, one of Italy's most spectacular ski resorts, has announced the return of the 7th Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience taking place from 17-20 March 2022. Created by Momentum Ski’s Amin Momen and Heston Blumenthal, this foodie event has a renowned and well-deserved reputation for attracting outstanding chefs to the ski resort of Courmayeur, and 2022 will be no exception. This year, guests can celebrate the return of the highly anticipated ski season in style with the food from three Michelin star chefs: Tom Kerridge, Paul Ainsworth and renowned local-chef Paolo Griffa in collaboration with Grand Hotel Royal & Golf.

Courmayeur is situated on the Italian side of Mont Blanc and is a traditional yet sophisticated resort full of history and charm and surrounded by spectacular scenery. The centre of the village is car-free offering superb shopping, world-class restaurants and bars, a fantastic choice of accommodation for all budgets and a fabulous après-ski scene, and is ideal for skiers and non-skiers alike with a wide range of activities on offer such as snowshoeing and biking – as well as plenty of experiences for families and foodies.

Announcing a new dinner-only format for Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience 2022, this season’s new flexible set-up will offer dinners available to book separately as well as a range of accommodation options, flights and transfers as available add-ons. The format of the event lends itself perfectly to groups of friends, individuals and families alike – all with a common interest in high-end, gourmet food. 

The dinners will take place around and on the slopes, as well as at the five-star Grand Hotel Royal & Golf, situated in the heart of Courmayeur. The hotel features multiple luxury suites, a spa and a Michelin-Star restaurant, Petit Royal, run by Head Chef Paolo Griffa. Paolo will be joined by Tom Kerridge, who holds three Michelin stars, along with friend Paul Ainsworth, to dream up more Michelin starred mountain feasts. Past chefs at the Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience have included Marcus Wareing, Clare Smyth, Jason Atherton and Sat Bains – all warmly hosted by Courmayeur. 

Thursday 17 March

The first dinner of the event will be a rustic informal Italian and local dinner, where the world renowned chefs can meet their guests, relax and spend quality time together. Priced at £160 per person.

Friday 18th March 

Tom Kerridge and Paul Ainsworth will produce a stellar tasting dinner on the mountain at La Chaumière. Accessible only by cable car and snowmobile. Tom and Paul will prepare some of their signature dishes in the rustic environment of a wood and stone chalet, La Chaumière. Five course tasting dinner with wines, including cable car transport. Priced at £210 per person. 

Saturday 19 March

The gourmet tasting evening at the Grand Hotel Royal & Golf, home to local Italian Michelin starred chef Paolo Griffa, will showcasing Tom Kerridge’s and Paul Ainsworth’s more elaborate UK signature dishes with a twist of the mountains and their unique approaches, the three chefs will collaborate by cooking a seven-course tasting dinner with wine pairings. Priced at £220 per person.  

Sunday 20 March

The gourmet atmosphere in Courmayeur continues through the streets downtown, in the high-level restaurants of the city centre, where local chefs enhance traditional dishes, using the highest quality raw materials whilst embracing new ingredients and innovative cooking techniques.

There will be no shortage of professional mixologists in the fashionable club district of Via Roma and on the slopes of Courmayeur, where you can taste many signature and classic cocktails. Courmayeur Mont Blanc, the capital of high-level food and mixology, will continue to host events, appointments and initiatives dedicated to taste throughout March.
