Bucherer introduces the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Bucherer Blue
By Tempus | 10 March 2021 | Lifestyle, Style
Blancpain’s newest timepiece is perfect for exploring the depths of the ocean and cutting a handsome figure
In a meeting of minds, luxury jeweller and watch retailer Bucherer and master watchmaker Blancpain have joined forces to launch the new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe watch, an attractive reinterpretation of the contemporary and timeless design of the iconic Bathyscaphe range.
The legendary Bathyscaphe was developed by Blancpain at the end of the 1950s as the civilian answer to the military diver’s watch smaller in size yet suitable for use in all conditions. Former Blancpain CEO Jean Jacques Fiechter, visionary entrepreneur and pioneer of modern scuba diving, created a true 20th century icon. The Bathyscaphe has become a milestone in Blancpain's long diver's watch heritage and developed into one of their most popular collections.
This partnership of Bucherer and Blancpain, the second time the two brands have collaborated, celebrates the pair's shared love for blue, which has always been the flagship Bucherer color. Furthermore, it also symbolises Blancpain's passion for the underwater world, as the brand is deeply commitment to ocean exploration and preservation through the Blancpain Ocean Commitment (BOC) initiatives.
The new Bathyscaphe Bucherer Blue has a number of unique design elements exlusive to this timepiece, including a special tone of blue chosen by Blancpain and a dial featuring a satin brushed chapter ring highlighting Super LumiNova coated hour markers.
The watch is also fitted with a dedicated blue rotor in 18K gold underlining the collaboration between the two Maisons . All of the elegant design elements that have characterized the Bathyscaphe diver’s watch since the beginning have been retained, and this special edition is limited to 188 pieces, exclusively available at Bucherer.
