2019 World Restaurant Awards winner Wolfgat will offer guests a six-course menu
The Taste of London festival returns to Regent's Park from 19-23 June this year to celebrate the British capital's international restaurant scene. Returning for its 17th year, and this year hosting a 'Wild in the City' theme, the festival will offer guests the chance to experience urban craftmanship and sustainability within the world of cuisine.
Special guests include River Cottage chef and presenter Steven Lamb, who will host smoking masterclasses alongside his talented team, and The Residence will be hosted by World Restaurant Awards 'Best Restaurant of the Year' winner, Wolfgat.
The 20-capacity South African restaurant – humbly self-described as a 'new Strandveld eatery' – is located in the remote fishing village of Patermoster and boasts a three-month waiting list, thanks to chef Kobus van der Merwe's modern creations. Taste of London guests can jump the line with a six-course tasting menu designed specially for the festival, and complimented by a partnership with Zacapa Rum. >>
Elsewhere in the festival, Taste of London will be exploring the importance of atmosphere and music, particularly with the Fire Pit, hosted by DJ BBQ. The Fire Pit will feature a rotation of demonstrations by chefs from restaurants including Roth Bar and Grill, Berber and Q & Rovi, as well as a special guest in the form of ex-Noma chef Santiago Lastra, who is set to open his new concept KOL later this year.
Other multicultural new restaurants represented at Taste of London include Brigadiers, Berenjak, Kym's and Chotto Matte, while champagne and spirit brands such as Laurent-Perrier and Tanqueray No.TEN will offer masterclasses to show the versatility of their brands.
“For the last seventeen years we have loved celebrating the innovation, creativity and talent from London’s restaurant scene, and we’re thrilled to be adding an international angle this year by giving visitors the chance to experience and rub shoulders with global culinary stars from The World Restaurant Awards," said event director Cecile Rebbot.
