Virgin Atlantic launches new routes to Turks & Caicos and the Maldives
By Tempus | 18 November 2022 | Travel
With its two new routes, the airline is consolidating its dominance in the UK-to-Caribbean market, as well as re-entering the Indian Ocean sector after terminating its previous service to Mauritius
Virgin Atlantic has this week announced that from 2023 it will begin operate two new direct routes from London; one to the Indian Ocean archipelago of the Maldives and another to Turks & Caicos, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean.
Both destinations have become widely known in recent decades for their pristine beaches, year-round warm weather and some of the most remarkable snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities in the world, making them both extremely popular among tourists from across the globe.
The airline will launch a winter seasonal three-times weekly service to the Maldives from London Heathrow commencing on 22 October 2023. These flights will go on sale on 30 November 2022, and will see the brand return to the Indian Ocean tourist market for the first time since since terminating its scheduled flights to Mauritius in the early part of the 2010s.
The airline will also launch a year-round twice weekly service to the Turks & Caicos which will go on sale from 11 January 2023, for flights starting on 15 November 2023 from London Heathrow. This new destination is the latest addition to the airline's Caribbean portfolio, which follows a new service to the Bahamas which launched in December 2021, and operations to St Vincent and the Grenadines which commenced in October 2021.
Both routes will be operated on the airline’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft, boasting 31 Upper Class seats.
