Unparalleled craftmanship and theatre combine as The Macallan and Cirque du Soleil collaborate on a unique sensory experience for 2024
Many Scottish single malts are known for their storied histories, with founding practices and fascinating family tales upheld to this day. One such is The Macallan which, founded by local school teacher and barley farmer Alexander Reid, was among the first Scottish distilleries to be legally licensed and marks its milestone 200th anniversary this year.
Toasting the occasion with a series of exclusive releases, the first, Tales of the Macallan Volume II is a 1949 vintage whisky, bottled in 2022. Available in a limited release of 344, each bespoke handcrafted crystal decanter is displayed within a handcrafted book, telling the pioneering story of Reid and his preference for curiously small stills.
With further releases and collaborations planned across the year, if you’re a Speyside or The Macallan enthusiast looking for a reason to head to the heartland, this could be your moment to visit.
Partnering with Cirque du Soleil, central to the celebrations The Macallan Estate will play host to a theatrical and sensory experience this spring, titled Cirque du Soleil Spirit. Set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Cirque du Soleil Spirit will be held in the picturesque setting of the wider estate. Guiding guests through different environments, the performance will weave together its tale; immersing visitors in feelings, scents, tastes and sounds during the bespoke journey. The story tells a tale of reconnection and nature, of life given a force to protect our natural world, and offers the awe-inspiring performances and intriguing stagecraft for which Cirque du Soleil is famed, alongside signature The Macallan tasting experiences.

The story ventures deep into the majestic natural landscapes of the Estate and features a series of encounters with fantastical folkloric figures along the way.
