TAG Heuer defies space and time with Ryan Gosling in Project Hail Mary

As Project Hail Mary arrives in cinemas, we take a look at the TAG Heuer watch that stars alongside brand ambassador Ryan Gosling in the film
As Project Hail Mary gears up for its anticipated arrival in cinemas, the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 gets a starring role with brand ambassador Ryan Gosling as it accompanies him on a mission that stretches far beyond Earth.
Based on Andy Weir’s best-selling novel, the film follows science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), who awakens alone aboard a spacecraft light-years from home with no memory of who he is or how he arrived there. As fragments of his past begin to return, he uncovers the truth behind his mission: solve the mystery of a substance causing the sun to fade and find a way to save life on Earth.
Throughout the film, Grace wears the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 in a lightweight titanium case paired with a vivid red strap. Integrated naturally into the character’s daily life aboard the spacecraft, the watch becomes a constant presence during moments of analysis, experimentation and decision making, remaining with Grace during periods of isolation and quiet reckoning.
Alone in space, with no human contact and limited resources, time becomes both an ally and an adversary. And as precision, data and timing form the pinnacle of space travel, the watch becomes a reassuring companion for Grace, integrating seamlessly with the scientific rigor and emotional intensity of the film.
It is not uncommon for Ryan Gosling to be sporting a TAG Heuer watch in his films. He’s been a brand ambassador for the horology brand since 2021, and since then, his relationship with the brand has grown naturally, extending beyond representation to become part of the stories he brings to life on screen. He wore a TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph in The Fall Guy and has also sported the brand’s selection of watches when he took on the role of Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.
In Project Hail Mary, the watch mirrors the balance at the heart of the story, where precision meets emotion and innovation serves something profoundly personal, making it a compelling companion to Grace.
Project Hail Mary releases in cinemas in the UK on 20 March 2026.
