Discover Sunreef Yachts’ vision for a future of sustainable sailing

As lovers of luxury yachts descend on Cannes for its annual yachting festival, we discover the brand taking steps towards a future of sustainable sailing

The 80 Sunreef Power Eco

Founded 20 years ago, Sunreef Yachts has fast become a name to know among luxury yacht lovers. Renowned for its custom catamarans and impressive superyachts – owned by the likes of tennis megastar Rafael Nadal and Formula One champions Nico Rosberg and Fernando Alonso – the company works to push the boundaries of sustainability while maintaining the expert design and craftmanship discerning brand fans have come to expect.

With Cannes Yachting Festival running from tomorrow, visitors may be interested to see what innovations Sunreef has to share this season. Clearly looking to cement its eco-credentials, Sunreef Yachts is debuting its long-awaited 80 Sunreef Power Eco, as well as three from its acclaimed Eco range of sailing catamarans : Sunreef 60 Eco, Sunreef 70 Eco, and Sunreef 80 Eco.

Seeking to set a new standard of sustainability for the industry, the 80 Sunreef Power Eco is Sunreef’s most eco-friendly electric motor yacht to date. The remarkable boat is powered by solar energy, courtesy of solar panels integrated across hull sides, superstructure and curved areas of the yacht, with further green features including wind generators.

Meanwhile, the innovative Eco sailing catamarans further showcase Sunreef’s commitment to innovating for the planet. Each also features an integrated solar power system, achieved by placing solar cells across the hulls, superstructure and bimini. Equally impressive, the new hydrogeneration system allows the boats to produce eco-friendly energy while they sail, stored in each catamaran’s unique battery bank for silent electric sailing on demand.

“Our commitment to sustainability and pushing the boundaries of green technology has led to the creation of these exceptional catamarans” explains Francis Lapp, Founder and CEO of Sunreef Yachts. “We look forward to sharing them with the global yachting community at this prestigious event”.
