Still G.I.N.: Sip sophistication with Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre

Rap legends Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg launch their first premium pour, Still G.I.N.—a spirit as smooth as their beats

If you had limitless wealth and extensive prestige, what would you do with your spare moments? For many celebrities, a foray into the fine wine and spirits world, to forge their perfect tipple, is a popular pastime. From George Clooney’s tequila Casamigos, to Emma and Alex Watson’s Renais, or Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin, the market is booming with star-powered spirits. Today two more behemoths of the music industry add their offering to the market, with the launch of a new gin from Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg: Still G.I.N.—named for the duo’s hit “Still D.R.E., from Dr. Dre’s 2001 multi-platinum album.

Launched under their company Dre & Snoop, which was founded last year in partnership with pre-mixed cocktail makers On the Rocks, the gin is billed as a modern twist on tradition with citrus, spice, and floral notes. The versatile non chill-filtered liquid is smooth enough to sip neat and clean and light enough to mix, designed to bring out the best of a cocktail’s essential ingredients. Vibrant and citrus-forward, with subtle floral and spice, notes of tangerine, jasmine, and coriander combine to create a complex and sippable spirit. The second release from the music legends’ brand, the gin is their first premium spirit, following the success of canned sparkling cocktail, Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop.

“This is not a spirit that we’re just putting our name on,” Dr Dre explains. “Everything is us from the ground up: the gin, the flavour, the packaging…. Snoop said it best: we’re better together – it’s always magical.”

“Every day in the studio when Dre and I were trying to make the dopest music, we were drinking gin and just having fun,” Snoop Dogg adds. “We’ve been a part of the evolution of this gin – from the creation of the flavour to the percentage of alcohol that’s in it – and it’s just so good! Dre’s a perfectionist: he wants to make sure it’s not just good, but great. Together, we ain’t gonna do nothing regular!”

And this irregular approach expands to the duo’s advertising efforts too. Still G.I.N. For Everybody: A Toast Between Legends is a high-tech AI advertisement blurring the lines between eras. A creative “what if?” meeting that cinematically bridges past, present and future generations of superstars, the feature depicts an imagined meeting between the duo and music legends Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. spotlighting the new gin. Using cutting-edge technology, the team worked closely in partnership with the Sinatra and Davis estates to honour Frank and Sammy.
