RH London opens historic flagship in Mayfair

RH London has finally opened its five-storey flagship in Mayfair with a star-studded event attended by Margot Robbie, Theo James and more

RH LondonRH has arrived in London, bringing its signature blend of luxury and design to Mayfair. Formerly known as Restoration Hardware, this is the American luxury home furnishings brand’s first London flagship, following its English debut in Banbury and subsequent openings in Paris, Milan, Brussels, Madrid, Munich and Düsseldorf.

RH London has chosen Uxbridge House for its home – a landmark Palladian mansion designed by architect Giacomo Leoni, reflecting three centuries of London’s rich architectural and cultural heritage. This location has been restored alongside three adjoining properties, and is now home to the largest RH-curated art and home furnishings collection in the world.

To celebrate the launch, RH London hosted a star-studded soiree on 25 June, bringing together tastemakers and influencers from the worlds of film, design, fashion, art, music, hospitality and business with celebrities like Theo James, Henry Cavill, Margot Robbie and Guy Ritchie in attendance. Created in collaboration with Foster + Partners, RH London is five storeys high and spans over 5000 square meters, becoming London’s one-stop destination for retail, art, design, fine dining and culture. Upon entering the gallery, you arrive at the Architecture & Design Library, where you will find rare books from the likes of da Vinci and Palladio Jones and Wren. The collection’s centerpiece is the first Italian edition, circa 1521, of De Architectura, The Ten Books on Architecture by 1st century BC architect Marcus Vitruvius.

The gallery’s five levels are connected with a glass lift, which features a curved structure covered in champagne gold. Flanking the lift is a tea salon and a wine bar, where guests can enjoy specialty teas and champagnes and wines from around the world. Deeper inside, you’ll find the Dining Room under a luminous gold leaf ceiling of what was formerly a banking hall. RH LondonDrawing inspiration from the heritage of London’s private members’ clubs, this grand dining space features high-gloss oak panelling and swinging, tiered chandeliers made from hand-blown Venetian glass descend from mirrored skylights. A curated meny of caviar specialties, seafood towers and signature salads is on offer, complemented by a refined array of American and British classics like rib roast and fish and chips, cooked on custom Molteni rotisseries.

Upstairs on the first floor, you have the RH interiors collection. Second floor features a space designed by hotelier Anouska Hempel, called The Perch, which is a dining space where guests can dine beneath glass bird cages. The third floor has been transformed into a massive garden oasis, which houses RH Outdoor.

RH London is more than just a retail store. Here, you can dine at leisure, buy some of the finest furniture collections in the world and explore artistic installations of furniture, antiques, artifacts and art in a gallery setting. Right at home next to the New Bond Street boutiques and Saville Row, RH London is what luxury is all about.
