Reaching speeds of 50 knots, the new yacht is its fastest to date
Luxury boating giant Princess Yachts has unveiled details of its highly anticipated R35 – its fastest and most technologically advanced sports yacht in historyto date. The launch marks a new era of technology for the iconic British brand, which confirming confirms record financial results and order books as the boat is brought to market for the first time.
The R35, scheduled for launch on 10 September 2018, has been designed in conjunction with world-famous Ben Ainslie Racing Technologies and is the first Princess R Class performance sports yacht. Key design notes include the ground-breaking Princess Active Foil System, developed with BAR Technologies, which optimises stability in rough ocean conditions by enabling a much lower drag hull form – offering maximum comfort and high-speed cornering potential.
“The R35 is a rare mix of extreme elegance and technology. Often design is a triumph of beauty over function or function over beauty,” said Antony Sheriff, executive chairman of Princess Yachts. “Princess has been able to develop a technologically game changing yacht that is also stunningly beautiful. It is in every way a new experience, yet also instantly recognisable as a Princess.”

The hull has been curated in collaboration with renowned Italian design house Pininfarina, the brains behind some of the world’s most valuable cars including Ferrari’s 458 Italia, California T and F12berlinetta. The structure has been made with new lightweight, carbon-fibre monocoque for seamless transport over the waves.
In terms of speed capability, adrenaline junkies will love how the R35 is fitted with V8 petrol engines and fully CNC machined intake and exhaust ports, providing exceptional levels of torque that safely take the yacht to an exhilarating 50 knots. Inside, the boat boasts bespoke Princess interiors and glass panel helm, with Naim audio and Esthec floors, making it the perfect platform for luxury living and socialising at sea.
Princess Yachts, based in Plymouth where the R35 was created, is renowned for its quality craftsmanship, design and engineering – as seen in its existing product range, which includes Flybridge motor yachts, V Class sports yachts, ground-breaking S Class Sportbridge yachts, flagship M Class superyachts and R Class performance sports yachts.
