Piaget unveils three new turquoise watches

Piaget has released a new Sixtie, Essentia and Swinging Sautoirs watch in turquoise to highlight the historic significance of the ornamental gemstone
Piaget has constantly redefined what it means to create a high jewellery watch in this business – something the luxury watch brand has done yet again with its new timeless turquoise timepieces.
Piaget, by releasing three different watches all created using the ornamental gemstone, has invited horology aficionados to rediscover the captivating beauty of turquoise. From the newest Sixtie jewellery watch to the Swinging Sautoirs, these high jewellery watches fuse the maison’s legendary craftsmanship, flair for colour and play of shapes.
The new Sixtie collection, first unveiled at Watches and Wonders, sees the Maison’s mastery of shape and proportion distilled into a new silhouette. The watch’s gently tapering trapezoidal dial – now adorned with the blue-green glow of turquoise – pays homage to Piaget’s 21st Century Collection of 1969.

The ancient Egyptians believed turquoise held powers of renewal, while the Aztecs called it the “stone of the gods”. Piaget has embraced turquoise from as early as 1963 when it pioneered the use of vibrant ornamental stone dials with its ultra-thin watch movements.
Now in its newest form, the Sixtie’s trapezoidal dial is mimicked in the soft curves of its five-row gold bracelet, which together with the turquoise, creates a timepiece that is as much a jewel as a watch.
There is also the new Sixtie Swinging Sautoir. Inspired by sketches once drawn directly by Piaget’s designers onto the pages of fashion magazines, this turquoise and trapezoid-dialled sautoir captures the era’s casual glamour with a cascading framework of diamond-set, hand twisted gold that echoes the contours of the dial. Its dynamism is further enhanced by the free movement of its light-reflecting tassel of diamonds and gold.

It blurs the lines between jewellery and timepiece, embracing the maison’s philosophy that watches should adorn the wrist and the body like works of art.
The Essential watch, meanwhile, has a perfectly irregular case featuring a unique turquoise dial, inspired by natural, organic forms. It is encircled by a highly polished, tactile frame of gold and diamonds. Its silhouette flows seamlessly into a bracelet of matching gold chain links that taper around the wrist and hug it like a talisman – haute couture for the wrist, if you will.
All three of the watches in the Piaget turquoise collection are now available to purchase.
