Oscars 2026: All the nominees of this year’s Academy Awards

And the Oscar goes to… From Timothée Chalamet to Chloe Zhao, here are all the nominees of the 2026 Academy Awards
On Thursday morning, the official nominees of the 2026 Oscars were announced, starting the countdown to the biggest night in the awards season. Ryan Coogler’s vampire-horror Sinners set a new Academy Awards record with a whopping 16 nominations, including best picture, making it the most nominated film in Academy Awards history.
This record was previously jointly held by All About Eve, Titanic and most recently, La La Land with 14 nods. The movie also resulted in long-overdue first-time nominations for many of its cast members, with Michael B Jordan going up for best actor, Wunmi Mosaku for best supporting actress and Delroy Lindo for supporting actor.
The film also earned nominations for original screenplay and director (both going to Ryan Coogler), original song for “I Lied to You”, original score (going to two-time Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson), and a host of production and technical categories, including costume design for two-time Oscar winner Ruth E Carter, who also worked with Coogler on Marvel’s Black Panther movies.

Sinners was closely followed by One Battle After Another at 13 nominations, including nods for Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro and Teyana Taylor as well as a director and best picture nod for Paul Thomas Anderson.
Timothée Chalamet made Oscars history by becoming the youngest actor to be nominated thrice in the same category, as he earned his third best actor nod for Marty Supreme – a role he recently won a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for. Chalamet is a double nominee at the 2026 Oscars as he also produced the acclaimed table tennis drama, which bagged a best picture nod.
Some more first-time nominees came from the cast of the foreign language film Sentimental Value, which starred Renate Reinsve, Elle Fanning, Stellan Skarsgard and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, who all earned acting nominations for their roles. Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein) and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent) were also first-time acting nominees.

Chloe Zhao earned a directing nomination for Hamnet (an award she previously won in 2022 for Nomadland), making her the sole woman in the category. And in a first, the Oscars announced nominees for the inaugural award for achievement in casting.
There were also some surprising snubs, with Paul Mescal losing out on a supporting actor nomination for Hamnet. Wicked: For Good was completely shut out from awards contention after having earned a bunch of nominations in 2025.
Will this finally be the year Timothée Chalamet wins an Oscar? We’ll find out on Sunday, 15 March 2026, as the 98th Academy Awards are telecast live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Conan O’Brien will return to the hosting gig, after a successful stint in 2025.
