Omega launches two Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite watches
By Shivani Dubey | 15 January 2025 | Design, Style
Omega is bringing the moon to your wrist with the Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite watches — complete with dials made out of meteorite
Omega has always been synonymous with James Bond, but there is another thing the brand will forever be historically tied to: the moon landing. The Omega Speedmaster, worn by Buzz Aldrin in 1969, became the first watch to ever be worn on the moon. Now, Omega is adding the Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite to its collection with two 43mm stainless steel models.
Each watch harnesses two forms of meteorite and is powered by an Omega calibre, designed to display lunar cycles as seen from both the northern and southern hemispheres. The dials are made out of iron meteorite, revealing a pattern of ribbon-like flecks that is unique in every watch.

As they turn, they reveal the changing illuminations seen in the northern and southern hemispheres.
What’s more, the stars in the background are positioned exactly as they were on the night that Apollo 11 reached the Moon in 1969 — as seen from Omega’s watchmaking home in Bienne, Switzerland.
To drive all these functions, Omega has created a brand new manual-winding co-axial master chronometer calibre 9914. The movement is visible through the flat sapphire crystal on the caseback. It is anti-magnetic to 15,000 gauss, guaranteeing chronometric precision and Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) certified performance.

The galvanic gray coated variant has a blue PVD dial plate, complete with a blue ceramic bezel and 18k gold hour markers. The black-dial version is similarly fitted with PVD-coated bases and 18k white gold hand markers, but is paired with a black ceramic bezel with a white enamel tachymeter scale.
The new Omega Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite watches are a celebration of Omega’s continuing connection to the night sky, and a legacy that is eternally tied to the moon.
