New American Express Centurion Lounge opens at Heathrow Terminal 3
By Tempus | 12 October 2021 | Lifestyle, Travel
The new lounge, available to AMEX Platinum Card holders, features the best of British art and design
American Express will today unveil its first Centurion Lounge in Europe at Heathrow Terminal 3, just in time for the reintroduction of travel into our lives following the pandemic.
The lounge is the latest in the Centurion collection, which currently includes spaces at multiple airports in the US including New York JFK, LAX and Miami, along with further-afield offerings such as Hong Kong International Airport. The new lounge, like the others, will be open to American Express Platinum Card holders.
As American Express explains, the new lounge will "look to embody London’s vibrancy and charm while nodding to the signature features American Express Cardmembers enjoy globally", and will feature local custom-made design elements and unique amenities.
These include spectacular work by British creatives; the lounge features luxury and modern lighting designs from Lee Broom and Tom Dixon, combined with work from luxury furniture makers Konk and Naughtone and Deadgood. The art within the lounge is curated by Art Story and includes Norman Parkinson’s fashion photography as well as original pieces by Carne Griffiths and Stephen Marshall.
Also featured are seasonal Soapsmith products by Samantha Jameson, including bespoke scented bath and body care products. Jameson’s line of six signature scents is inspired by different areas of London and made by a family of highly skilled soapsmiths with local ingredients, and will be rotated seasonally in the lounge, starting with “Hackney,” a tribute to the borough in which Samantha grew up.
The ace up the lounge's sleeve, however, is the curated menu by Michelin-Star Chef Assaf Granit of the Coal Office and Palomar London. Serving as the Executive Chef of the lounge, Granit’s menu ties back to London's rich multicultural heritage through signature dishes from his top restaurants across the globe.
Dishes include his staple homemade Kubalah bread, fried pita chips with tahini, shakshukit, a beef and lamb dish with confit tomatoes and tahini, and for dessert, a “Oh 'My Baklava" olive oil cake with pistachio anglaise and rose water diplomat.
The new lounge will be open to AMEX Platinum Card holders from 11am on 12 October.
