Mercedes-Maybach reveals luxury SUV concept at Beijing International
By Rose Adams | 24 April 2018
The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is a contemporary take on the traditional SUV
Sub-brand of automotive giant Mercedes-Benz, Maybach has debuted their most exciting electric concept yet, on 24 April at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. The Vision Mercedes-Mayback Ultimate Luxury is inspired by Chinese influences and combines the height of an SUV with a luxury limo saloon car style – the most successful styles of body, especially on the Chinese market.
With sustainability at the core of its engineering, the vehicle is built with four compact permanent-magnet synchronous motors that produce a massive 750 horsepower. It also boasts wireless charging technology enabling it to add 60 miles of travel in five minutes. Courtesy of DC charging based on the CCS standard, the system enables a charging capacity of up to 350 kW.

“The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is a totally new archetype of a kind never seen before. Our concept combines the DNA of an SUV with that of a saloon to produce an ultra-modern SUV of three-box design,” Gorden Wagener, chief design officer at automotive corporation Daimler AG, who own Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG, said at the show. “With sensuality and pure sophistication, we have created a timeless vehicle that underscores the position of Mercedes-Maybach as the ultimate luxury brand.”
The Ultimate Luxury’s daring design is reminiscent of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 electric concept produced in 2016, also set with a chrome vertical radiator grille synonymous with Maybach cars. The contemporary interior is white with Rose Gold accents and is kitted with a pair of 12.3-inch screens and tea set made with ‘Magic Wood’ – a traditional material used in Chinese furniture design – treating passengers to a cup of tea on the go.
“The concept vehicle embodies the Mercedes-Maybach design language, which reflects the traditional brand values while continuing the successful Mercedes-Maybach story," said a spokesperson from Mercedes.
