Luxury auction house Christie’s to host a Vivienne Westwood sale series

Christie’s is set to honour the legacy of the late fashion designer with a sale of her personal collections, the proceeds of which will go to causes she supported throughout her life
Christie’s, the luxury London auction house, is set to host a Vivienne Westwood sale series from 14 to 28 June to honour the late fashion designer’s legacy and impact on the world of luxury fashion.
Vivienne Westwood: The Personal Collection will be auctioned off as part of a live auction on 25 June, with a concurrent online sale running from 14 to 28 June. All proceeds from this auction will go towards causes and charities like The Vivienne Foundation, Amnesty International, Médecins Sans Frontières and Greenpeace — all organisations that Dame Vivienne Westwood supported throughout her life.The collection — which only contains pieces from Vivienne Westwood’s fashion house — comprises the personal wardrobe of the late fashion designer and includes some of the most iconic looks that she created and wore during the last four decades of her life. The oldest item in the collection is from the Witches collection for autumn/winter 1983/84.

Alongside this auction, Christie’s is also hosting a special edition of its talk series Christie’s Lates on 20 June. This evening will be a way to celebrate the life and legacy of Vivienne Westwood, and will feature panel discussions, workshops and performances. The evening will also feature an exclusive exhibition of her wardrobe ahead of the live and online auctions.Vivienne Westwood is known for revolutionising punk and contemporary fashion, often being heralded as a pioneer in that regard. And for this reason, this exhibition will be set against a backdrop of fashion with punk iconography and contemporary art.
Vivienne Westwood has been celebrated by the fashion industry for changing the face of fashion. Her name is synonymous with a revolution — to challenge the norms and look outside the box. Her designs have been worn by celebrities like Zendaya, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Harry Styles, Kate Moss and many more.
And with this auction at Christie’s, Vivienne Westwood’s legacy lives on.
