Over the last few years there’s been a noticeable shift towards dining earlier in the evening. And with summer gracing us with blazing sunshine, the terraces and courtyards of London’s restaurants and bars have been bustling, thronged with glamorous guests enjoy after-work drinks and languid evenings lingering over shared plates in the summer sunshine. As we enter August, Londoner’s may be looking ahead to the cooler evenings of autumn, anticipating the delightful return of after-dark dining. Renowned for world-class cocktails and vibrant live bands, Oriole’s food offering shouldn’t be overlooked, especially as this beloved Covent Garden speakeasy-inspired bar has just launched a brand new after-hours dinner menu, served until the clock strikes twelve. Late night revellers can descend to Oriole’s basement dining room to enjoy globally-inspired dishes from chicken karaage steamed buns to burgers with Argentine-style grilled cheese. On Fridays and Saturdays, performers will take to the stage for an additional after-hours set, giving late night diners the live jazz, blues and world music that Oriole is known for.
Vibrant and charismatic, this much-loved tapas restaurant specialises in bringing the rich, smoky allure of wood-fired cooking to life. Open until 1am Thursday to Saturday, expect a hearty, autumnal feast with deep, earthy flavours, and a menu combining Spanish and Italian culinary traditions.

Another central London spot famed for its ever-changing roster of DJs and live musicians, tapping into Denmark Street’s esteemed history as a musical mecca. Alongside bespoke cocktails, the bar offers a selection of Japanese-inspired small plates featuring a wide range of elevated tacos (think Wagyu biltong or Bluefin tuna), gyoza and sushi, such as the signature smoked duck rolls. Beyond the music, Thirteen’s opulent Gothic interiors and sculpted grand bar give a hedonistic flavour to any evening. Open until 3am, with last food orders at 11.30 pm, go for dinner and stay for live music and rock ‘n’ roll vibes in one of Soho’s latest-serving venues.

For lighter bites, Mayfair’s Bar Antoine is a vibrant late-night spot. Developed by Yannick Alléno, one of the world’s most decorated Michelin-starred chefs, the venue offers inventive cocktails with bold, globally inspired flavours. Uncurtailed by convention, the bar menu ranges from dumplings and fried chicken to chicken Milanese and beef tenderloin. Refined drinks, food to feed any craving and plush surroundings — the perfect way to end the night in the heart of the city.

The stylish hideaway is open until 1am and offers elevated small plates like Cornish crab canapés, caviar and mushroom croquettes to complement the varied cocktail menu.
