Hermès unveils limited edition Arceau locomotion art watch

The new limited edition Arceau Hermès locomotion art watch features a futuristic pop-art painting of the brand’s boutique in Paris

Hermès Arceau locomotionHermès has unveiled a limited art edition of the Arceau locomotion watch. Created by French designer and director Ugo Bienvenu for the Hermès Locomotion scarf, the watch features a futuristic, pop-art vision of the Hermès boutique on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris.

Limited to just 12 pieces, the Arceau Hermès locomotion watch features the Manufacture H1912 self-winding movement, housed in a 38 mm diameter white gold case set with 71 diamonds. Meanwhile, the anti-glare sapphire crystal and case-back crown is set with a rose-cut diamond.

The most interesting part of the watch – which comes in a mauve alligator strap – is the dial, which is composed of multiple paint layers.

The second is applied directly to the underside of the protective sapphire crystal, accentuating the multidimensional perspective like a miniature diorama. At the centre of this tableau, two silver-toned leaf-style hands display the hours and minutes.

Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the Arceau watch has branded itself to be a special showcase for artistic crafts, providing a space where creativity-driven shapes and colours come to life.

This is one of five different artistic iterations of the Arceau Hermès locomotion collection, and is just another step in the maison’s continued drive for innovation in horological artistry. The brand recently unveiled the Maillon Iibre collection at Watches & Wonders 2025, which reimagines the anchor chain link as a wristwatch and a brooch watch.

The wristwatch has a complex structure with diamond or terracotta tourmaline centre stones, and a discreet way to tell time incorporated right into the bracelet design. Meanwhile, the brooch watch can be worn on its own or transformed into a pendant thanks to its leather cordlet.
