In what was certainly a dramatic race, Lando Norris earned his first-ever home victory at the 2025 British Grand Prix
Formula 1 is always full of unexpected twists and turns. And the 2025 British Grand Prix was chalk full of them as McLaren Racing driver Lando Norris clinched his first ever home victory at the Silverstone Circuit on Sunday, ending Lewis Hamilton’s 14-year streak at the podium on home soil.
For the better part of the race, it was Norris’s teammate Oscar Piastri who was leading the pack, after having raced calmly through the heavy rain. But due to a 10-second penalty given to Piastri after he drove erratically during restart after a safety car period, Piastri ended up serving time in the pit towards the closing laps of the race, allowing Norris to gain the lead during this crucial juncture.

“The last few laps, I was just looking into the crowd. I was just trying to take it all in, enjoy the moment, because it might never happen again. I hope it does. But these are memories that I’ll bring with me forever,” he said.
Piastri was noticeably angry at how the events had unfolded, but didn’t say much on account of wanting to stay out of trouble.
Another first in this race came from Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg, who took his first podium finish – behind Norris and Piastri – at his 239th attempt, setting a record for the longest time before finishing top three in an F1 race.

We were really on it, the right calls. I was in denial until probably the last pit stop. But when we gapped Lewis I thought, ‘Okay’.”
“The pressure was there. I knew he would give it all in front of his home crowd, but I was like, ‘Sorry guys, this is my day. I have to stick my neck out,'” he added.
