Chelsea in Bloom: London’s largest flower festival returns with a fashionable theme

The London floral art showcase Chelsea in Bloom is returning for its 20th edition with the theme ‘Flowers in Fashion’

Chelsea in BloomChelsea in Bloom, London’s biggest flower festival and art showcase is slated to return this spring for its 20th anniversary edition. To mark this landmark occasion, the festival, which will run from 19 to 25 May, has chosen the theme ‘Flowers in Fashion’.

In keeping with this theme, the streets and stores of Chelsea will be adorned with floral installations that take inspiration from iconic fashion movements, style icons and muses — honouring Chelsea’s legacy as one of the world’s most stylish destinations.

This year’s charity partner will be the British Fashion Council Foundation, championing the next generation of creatives and designers. Over 115 brands and businesses, including Ralph Lauren, RIXO, Brunello Cucinelli, and Temperley London, will take part in supporting the next generation of designers.

Some of the planned arrangements include a nod to both British weather and the Sloane Ranger aesthetic with giant yellow Wellington boots beneath a canopy of umbrellas on Sloane Square; a four-metre-high punk’s head with a floral mohawk on King’s Road to celebrate Chelsea’s role in punk fashion; an oversized handbag and a tribute to the roaring ’20s at Duke of York Square; and Elton John-inspired oversized sunglasses on Sloane Street.

Chelsea in Bloom will partner with two charities — the British Fashion Council Foundation and the Confetti Club — supporting the growth and success of the UK fashion industry through education, mentoring and talent development and raising funds for cancer research respectively.
