Carlos Alcaraz grand slamOn Sunday, 1 February, Carlos Alcaraz made history as the youngest player to ever complete a career grand slam. The 22-year-old earned this honour after beating Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open over the weekend.

The Spanish tennis ace immediately collapsed on the court in celebration after his victory in Melbourne, proceeded to then pen a message on the TV camera lens, writing: “Job finished – 4/4 complete.”

Before Alcaraz, fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal held the title of youngest career grand slam winner at 24 years old. Fittingly, Nadal was at Red Laver Arena for Alcaraz’s moment of glory.

“What I’ve learned this year is about appreciating and enjoying every single second – not only lifting trophies but playing tournaments, playing tennis, getting victories, getting losses,” said Alcaraz, adding: “Whatever it is, just enjoy and appreciate the life you’re living. It’s an honour to put my name on the history books.”

Djokovic, who was on the brink of making history of his own that evening before being thwarted by Alcaraz, also praised the young player for his accomplishments.
