Breitling launches its first-ever ‘traceable watch’

The Super Chronomat Automatic 38 Origins allows customers to follow the journey their watch’s gemstones and materials took, from mine to wrist

Swiss watch manufacturer Breitling has unveiled the brand’s first-ever “traceable watch”, designed to "transparently inform and engage owners about the origins of its precious materials".

The Super Chronomat Automatic 38 Origins, one of three new designs to be added to the brand's famed Chronomat family this month, will provide a provenance record on the owner’s blockchain-backed NFT, which details the responsible measures taken along the supply chain for the watch’s artisanal gold and lab-grown diamonds, with all information independently verified.

Breitling has stated that it is working toward having all of its gold traceable to specific artisanal and small-scale mines (ASM) by 2025. Furthermore, for every gram of gold purchased, Breitling makes a contribution that supports local community development projects.

“Consumers are increasingly reflecting on the products they buy and what goes into them. We want to give them those answers upfront,” said Kern. “Super Chronomat Origins is one step on a transformative journey at Breitling. This is just the beginning.”
