On Sunday 11 January, Los Angeles turned into a catwalk as the world’s biggest film and TV actors gathered for the 86th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The 2026 Golden Globes usually mark the official kick-off point for awards season, setting the tone for the rest of the ceremonies to follow.
This year cast the spotlight on some of the most beloved films and TV shows of 2025, with nominees including critically acclaimed movies hits like Sinners, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, Hamnet and more. In terms of TV shows, we had the breakout medical drama The Pitt, Adolescence, The Studio and more.
Timothée Chalamet became a first-time Golden Globe winner for his turn as Marty Mauser in Marty Supreme, a role he also nabbed his first Critics Choice Award for. Multi-hyphenate Teyana Taylor also became a first-time winner for her supporting role in One Battle After Another, tearfully accepting her award by sending a message to “my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight”.
“Our light does not need permission to shine,” she said in her speech. “We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”
The Golden Globes were also a sartorial spectacle, as Teyana delivered her speech in a glorious Schiaparelli ensemble that was complimented with Tiffany & Co jewels. Brands like Dior, Hublot, Chrome Hearts, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Chanel and more were also well represented at the event. Stars like Mia Goth, Adam Brody, Jacob Elordi, Julia Roberts and more, all walked the red carpet in their finest awards outfits, making for a wonderful evening of film and fashion.
On stage, Jessie Buckley and Rose Byrne continued the trend of first-time winners with their best actress wins for Hamnet (drama) and If I Had Legs I’d Kick You (musical or comedy), and Stellan Skarsgård and Wagner Moura won best supporting actor for Sentimental Value and The Secret Agent respectively.
In the TV department, Netflix’s British breakout Adolescence continued its awards sweep, with its stars Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty all taking home the coveted trophies, and 16-year-old Owen expressing his admiration for and disbelief at his meteoric rise to success.
“I’m still very much an apprentice. I’m still learning every day. I’m still learning from the people that are sitting in front of you and sitting in front of me,” he said.
Other TV winners include Seth Rogen for his industry satire The Studio, Noah Wyle for The Pitt, Jean Smart for Hacks and Michelle Williams for Dying For Sex.
