Luxury car brand defies pandemic obstacles with the introduction of new models and greater global availability of older ones
Luxury car manufacturer Bentley Motors has this week announced that it saw record sales across 2020, beating out the previous year by two per cent despite significant obstacles posed by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The brand’s production lines were shut down for just short of two months starting in March and ran at half capacity for a further nine weeks after that due to social distancing requirements.
This led to lower sales than initially forecast for the year, but nevertheless Bentley’s sales of 11,206 over the past twelve months still stands as the strongest annual performance in its 101-year history.
In a press release, chairman and CEO Adrian Hallmark attributed this record to new model introductions and greater global availability of other popular models.
He also noted that while the Americas remained the region with the highest sales, it was run close by China, which posted an increase of 48 per cent year-on-year.
