Amalgam Collection launches race-worn Formula 1 models ahead of Australian Grand Prix

The new collection by Amalgam has been created in partnership with Tempus, and features its first-ever race-weathered 1:18 scale Formula 1 models
Ahead of the 2026 Australian Grand Prix on 8 March, Amalgam Collection, the world renowned company that creates luxury model cars has partnered with Tempus Magazine to launch its first-ever limited Weathered Edition 1:18 scale Formula 1 models, capturing the cars exactly as they crossed the finish line in Australia one year ago.
That first race of 2025 marked two important moments that went on to define the F1 season: Lando Norris cinched his opening victory in the McLaren MCL39, going on to win the championship at the end of the year; and Lewis Hamilton made his Scuderia Ferrari HP debut in the Ferrari SF-25.
Now, as Formula 1 returns to Australia to open a new season, Amalgam Collection, together with Tempus, has commemorated those defining scenes with two exquisitely detailed, race-weathered replicas. For the first time, each model is available in a meticulously hand-weathered edition, authentically recreating the precise condition of the cars as they raced that day.
Strictly limited to just 39 pieces for the McLaren MCL39 and 44 pieces for the Ferrari SF-25, the creations took over 800 hours to develop in collaboration with McLaren and Ferrari. Each model measures over 31cm (12 inches) long and is made from the finest quality materials and incorporates precise engineered castings, photo-etchings and CNC-machined metal components. Built using original CAD designs and official paint codes supplied by both teams, the models deliver exceptional accuracy in both form and finish.

Race weathering is the highly specialised art of recreating the authentic patina a Formula 1 car accumulates over the course of a Grand Prix. It captures nuances like subtle rubber marbling, track dust, brake residue, fluid staining, heat discolouration, and even minor race-inflicted imperfections.
Each weathered edition model is individually finished by the master artisans at Amalgam Collection’s Bristol workshop, ensuring every detail mirrors the exact appearance of the real car at the end of the race, transforming each piece into a true miniature work of art. There are also non-weathered versions of both Ferrari and McLaren cars available for purchase.
Speaking about the new editions, Amalgam Collection founder Sandy Copeman highlighted the precise detailing that went into each car.
“These super-rare, limited-edition models are the ultimate collectables for discerning Formula 1 aficionados. Created under the watchful eye of Ferrari in Maranello and McLaren in Woking, our team of artisans hand-finishes each car in our Bristol workshops,” said Sandy. “Every detail, from the paint and decals to the subtle signs of race wear, is painstakingly recreated, ensuring each model is not just a replica, but a true piece of motorsport art.”

Michelle Johnson, editor-in-chief at Tempus Magazine, similarly expressed the publication’s delight at the partnership with Amalgam Collection.
