The luxury Swiss watch brand has unveiled a new dark blue rendition of the TAG Heuer Monaco chronograph ahead of the Formula One Grand Prix
Luxury Swiss brand TAG Heuer has released a brand new edition of their Monaco chronograph as a tribute to the collection’s racing heritage — just in time for the Monaco Grand Prix, which will take the Formula One world by a storm on 26 May.
The new watch comes in a dark blue theme, which is a nod to the Mediterranean coast that hosts one of the most prestigious Formula One races every year. There are touches of yellow on the hands and hour markers, which is meant to represent the sparks that fly from racing cars at high speeds. The model features a titanium case, known for its lightweight and shock-resistant properties, which is suited for high-speed motor racing. The case houses a skeleton dial that highlights the workings of the automatic Calibre Heuer 02, which ensures precision timing and carries an 80 hour power reserve.
The TAG Heuer Monaco was first introduced in 1969 and became well known for its square shape, left crown, polished case and blue dial. It has a deep history with motor racing and cinema, thanks to its association with actor Steve McQueen — the character he played on the 1971 film Le Mans wore the watch on his wrist.
TAG Heuer has forged a deep connection to the world of racing through the Monaco collection, with the luxury brand holding the title of the official watch partner of the Monaco Grand Prix since 2011.The brand has also been in partnership with the Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula One team since 2016, with the watch often being sported by F1 stalwarts Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
And with the Monaco Grand Prix right around the corner, all eyes will be on them as they race for a spot on the coveted podium.
