Rolls-Royce shines a light on bespoke with its Wraith Luminary Collection
By Michelle Johnson | 27 March 2018
Only 55 unique vehicles will be made in this limited debut of the marque’s starlit new collection
Rolls-Royce has unveiled the bespoke Wraith Luminary Collection, a limited collection of just 55 unique cars, featuring two world first debuts – an illuminated wooden panelling and Sunburst Grey paintwork. Inspired by its influential patrons and friends of the brand, and capturing a starlit ambiance inside and out, each Wraith Luminary also features an interior canopy of shooting stars in its headliner.
The distinctive, specially developed Sunburst Grey paint combines an elegant gunmetal base that shines in rich copper tones in the sunlight. Each Wraith also features a hand-painted Sunburst Motif coachline, Wake Channel Lines on the bonnet and pinstripes on the wheel centre. The interior leathers are presented in similar warm Saddlery Tan tones – or two tone Seashell if requested – and illuminated Tudor Oak Wood that alights with 176 LEDs in an intricate pattern at the touch of a button.
"Wraith Luminary is a stunning Collection Car. It speaks directly of our contemporary Rolls-Royce brand – progressive and trailblazing; the pinnacle in hand-crafted luxury," said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. "This is a motor car that celebrates visionaries who achieve eminence in their respective fields. Indeed, this collection is for the world’s luminaries." >>

The Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective team, based in Goodwood, further amplified the impact of its prized starlight headliner – a handwoven canopy of 1340 fibre optic lights giving a night sky affect – by incorporating eight shooting stars into the constellation, which fire at random to flood the interior in relaxing ambient light.
The interior, including the centre console, central transmission tunnel and door panniers, is finished with an innovative hand-woven stainless steel fabric which is woven in a 45 degree pattern to ensure a uniform appearance through the passenger compartment. As a final touch, the car's tread is hand-engraved with the Luminary's unique batch number.
