Glenfiddich brings the past to the present with the Time Re:Imagined Collection

The famed distillery launches ultra-rare 30-, 40- and 50-year-old expressions simultaneously to represent different eras of the brand’s history
Glenfiddich, one of the world's most iconic whisky distilleries, has announced the launch of its ambitious Time Re:Imagined Collection, a selection of heavily aged and exclusive single malt whiskies from different eras of the distillery's history.
The Collection consists of three "extraordinary single malt whiskies that each capture a moment in time", as the brand puts it, having been matured over 30, 40 and 50 years respectively.
The rarest within the collection is the 50 Year Old, nicknamed Simultaneous Time, which, according to Glenfiddich, "explores the parallel and complex conditions and effects that have influenced this refined liquid".
This expression takes whiskies from three different American Oak refill casks, all matured in the same warehouse before being blended and finished in an American oak refill cask for two years. The outer casing of each of the whiskies is also a unique work; the 50 Year Old's case is an artistic representation of the climatic data that created the whisky.
The 40 Year Old, meanwhile, is known colloquially as Cumulative Time, "drawing attention to the layers of accumulated flavour within its liquid, made possible via the remnant vatting process first pioneered by Glenfiddich".
This whisky is the product of remnant vatting, a process in which the remnants of the previous batch are carried over each time, and married with the casks selected for each subsequent release. Meanwhile the decanter is housed in a sculptural container and stopper made from jesmonite, a material with individual characteristics that render every piece completely unique.
The last of the three at 30 years old is dubbed Suspended Time, evoking "the moment when the Malt Master suspends the development of the whisky, showcasing the purest expression of the distiller’s character".
The outer packaging design evokes this process through moving ribbons, each one frozen in time to form cut-out windows revealing the decanter inside.
Glenfiddich 30 Year Old (RRP £900) Glenfiddich 40 Year Old (RRP £3,500) and Glenfiddich 50 Year Old (RRP £35,000) will be available to purchase at select partners globally and luxury travel retail.
